Knowledge and understanding
After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:
- define the concept and historical development of industrial property law;
- identify sources of industrial property law;
- explain the relation between industrial property law and other branches of law;
- explain the protection of invention by patent, protection of trademark, protection of industrial desiign, protection of topography, protected designation of geographical indication and origin
- explain acquisition and disposal with industrial property rights
Application
After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:
- distribute categories of industrial property law;
- demonstrate the role of industrial property law in the system of law;
- independently use regulations from the area of industrial property law;
- conduct an independent research of sources in order to find the most adequate solution in a concrete situation.
Analysis
After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:
- distinguish between different rights of industrial property;
- compare different systems of protection of industrial property rights in Croatia on the national and international level;
- analyse advantages of registering certain industrial property right in Croatia or on the international level;
- examine satisfaction of absolute and relative conditions for registratioin of trademark and industrial design (f.e. differentiation, descriptiveness, earlier trademark)
Synthesis
After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:
- create the most favourable manner of protecting a concrete iondustrial property right;
- propose a registration of a certain industrial property right on the national and international level in accordance with the client's needs;
- propose a certain procedure of registering the industrial property right;
- propose appropriate patent disposal (f.e. license agreement, agreement of transfer of patent to another party)
Evaluation
After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:
- assess how industrial property law relates towards private law as a whole, and towards intellectual property law in particular;
- conclude what various forms of industrial peroperty have in common;
- compare individual forms of industrial property and define their main differences;
- evaluate the role of international conventions for the development of industrial property.
After successful completion of the course students will be able to:
- give advice with regard to protection of industrial property, primarily through registration,
- express their own opinion orally and with arguments,
- analyse in writing a professional topic from industrial property law with notes that refer to sources,
- use information technology for presenting their conclusions.
- In the stage of preparation of teaching materials, realisation of learning outcomes is monitored through benchmarking,
- In the stage of implementation of teaching program outcomes are controlled by monitoring attendance and reactions of students,
- Students may address the teacher personally or via e-mail
- After the implementation, learning outcomes are tested at an oral examination
