Invited by the Institute for Scientific Work of the Croatian Academy of Sciences Arts in Varaždin, on May 9, dr. sc. Ivan Obadić gave a lecture entitled "European Defence Community – the first attempt to create a European Army." In his lecture at the Varaždin City Museum, dr. Obadić talked about the French Prime Minister René Pleven's proposal in October 1950 to create a European Army under supranational authority, the failure of the European Defence Community, and the contemporary EU Security and Defence Challenges following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
