Prof. Ph. D. Zdravka Leutar is a Professor at the Study Centre for Social Work at the University of Zagreb. She was born in Tomislavgrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she finished elementary school, finishing senior school in Zagreb in 1985. She completed her BA degree in Social Work Studies at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb in 1994 and then took a MSc degree in Sociology at the Institute of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Karls Franzens University, in Graz, graduating in 1998. In 2000, she defended her PhD in the Sociology of the Family at the Karls Franzens University of Graz under the supervision of Prof. Ph. D. Max Haller on the topic, Familiäre Wertorientierungen in Kroatien im vergleich zu Österreich und Polen. In 1995, she was employed at the Law Faculty, University of Zagreb as a research associate on the project Social Work and Social Policy, then as a research assistant on the same project. From the very beginning of her work at the faculty, she independently has led seminars, workshops and practical training courses in: Social work with families, Counselling, Family Therapy. Since 2001, she has been responsible for the course Social Work with People with Disabilities for which she undertakes lectures, seminars, workshops and field work. She achieved the scientific teaching position as a Reader in 2002, associate professor in 2008 and full professor in 2013. She has been working as a lecturer in the Field of Social Work since 2009, teaching Social Work Studies at undergraduate and graduate levels and Theory and Methodology of Social Work at post-graduate level; she also leads several courses: Social Work with People with Disabilities, Spirituality and Social work, Social Work and Children with Developmental Impairments, Social Work and Human Rights, Selected Topics in Social Work. Prof. Leutar's areas of scientific interest relate to social work with people with disabilities, spirituality and social action, and social work and human rights. She has published six books as author, one as editor, one hundred scientific papers in academic journals, conference papers (proceedings) and book chapters. She is Head of the Scientific Research Project "The social status of elderly and people with disabilities in Croatia and the EU" for the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports. She led the research project "The Social Status of People with Disabilities in the Republic of Croatia" for the Ministry of the Family, Veterans and Intergenerational Solidarity and headed the first study of families of persons with disabilities in Croatia, named "The Quality of Life of Families of Persons with Disabilities in Croatia." She has worked on several scientific research projects for MSES, such as the "Functioning and Strengthening Families in High-risk Conditions in the Republic of Croatia", "Models of Action and Evaluation Research in Social Work", "Social Policy and Social Work in the Republic of Croatia" and "Single-parent Families in Croatia. "The results of these projects have been presented at many international and national conferences. She has designed and given lectures on various courses at undergraduate level at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus in Zagreb, at postgraduate level at the Education and Rehabilitation Sciences in Zagreb and for postgraduate research students at Faculty of Law, University of Osijek. She is responsible for several courses at theStudies of Social Work, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prof. Leutar has supervised six doctoral dissertations, five masters theses and numerous final projects and theses. Prof. Zdravka Leutar belongs to an international Congregation of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. She is a member of the Government Commission of the Republic of Croatia for people with disabilities.
