Slavica Blažeka Kokorić was born in 1974 in Čakovec, Croatia. She graduated social work in 1997 at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Law - Department of Social work. In 2002 she finished a master degree in social science, field sociology at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Philosophy.
In 2005 she defended doctoral theses in social science, field social work, under the heading “The connection between experiences in the family of origin and romantic relationships features“, at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Law – Department of Social Work.
From 1998 until today, she was continuously employed at the Faculty of Law, Department of social work, University of Zagreb, on the following positions:
From 1998 until today she continuously teaches various courses at the Department of Social Work. She teaches a few courses at the undergraduate level (courses "Social work with families," “Field Placement” and "Drama-pedagogical methods in social work") and on the graduate level (“Social Work with Family”, “Field Placement”).
She teaches also at the postgraduate studies “Psychosocial approach in social work” (course "Assessment Models and Work with the Family") and at the postgraduate studies “Family mediation” (courses "Seminar in analyzing Family Conflict" and "Research Family Conflicts") and at the “Doctoral study of Social work and Social Policy” (course "Contemporary studies of Family and Marital Relations").
Under her mentorship, more than 40 students defended their final papers on the graduate and undergraduate level. She has published twenty scientific papers and three book chapters and also participated in more than twenty international and national conferences.
Her interest of research is the field of studying the quality of family relationships, the structure and the living conditions of urban and rural families, family values, parenting, premarital and marital processes, the role of the primary family in creating intimate relationships in adulthood, prevention of difficulties and behavioural functioning of children and youth etc.
From 2009 to 2014 she was head of the scientific research project of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports "The functioning and strengthening families in high-risk conditions in the Republic of Croatia". From 2006 to 2014 she was a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal “Annual of Social work”. In addition, she was actively involved in professional work within various associations for many years, but nowadays she is a member of the Croatian Association of Social Workers, the Croatian Centre for Drama Education, the Association for Creative Social Work and the Association Sociativa New.
