Main Fields of Research: Croatian and European Civil Law, particularly Law of Obligations (Contracts and Tort), Croatian and European Consumer Protection Law
Academic and Professional Career:
Studied law at the Faculty of Law University of Zagreb and obtained diploma of bachelor of law in 1995. In 1998 completed postgraduate Course in European Union Law, WTO Law, Arbitration Law and Commercial Law, Asser College Europe, at the Asser Institute, The Hague, The Netherlands. In 2001 obtained “Master of Legal Sciences” diploma (title of the Master thesis: Precontractual Liability) from the Faculty of Law University of Zagreb and in 2006 “Doctor of Legal Sciences” (Ph.D.) diploma (title of the Dissertation: Civil Law Liability for Defective Products) from the same Faculty. In 2004 passed State judiciary exam before Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Croatia.
Joined the Faculty of Law University of Zagreb in 1997 as the junior assistant at the Chair of Civil Law. As of 2011 occupies the position of associate professor at the Chair of Civil Law. From 2007 to 2009 served as the vice-dean of the Faculty of Law University of Zagreb, responsible for curricular activities. As of 2013 serves as the vice-dean of the same Faculty, responsible for International Relations.
Currently teaches civil law courses (general part of the civil law, law of obligations, real property law and succession law) and consumer protection courses (Croatian CP and European CP) at the Faculty of Law University of Zagreb, both at graduate and postgraduate level. From 2008 to 2010 taught Property Law in Central and Eastern European Countries at summer school program of the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis in Mlini, Croatia.
Active in number of working groups responsible for drafting various legislative acts in the Republic of Croatia, including Obligations Act, Consumer Protection Act and Illicit Advertising Act. Member of the working group 28 (consumer protection and health) of the negotiations team of the Republic of Croatia for the accession to the EU. Currently acting as the representative of the Republic of Croatia in the working group III (on-line dispute resolution) of UNCITRAL.
