Knowledge and understanding

After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:

- explain modern challenges for protection of the right to privacy and protection of personal data in electronic communication and in modern digital networks in general

- explain the logic and dynamics of the development of regulation in this area on domestic, EU and international level

- define relevant sources of law for different problem situations that occur on the domestic, EU and international level which influence the right to privacy and the right to protection of personal data in electronic communications and modern digital networks in general

- discuss legal-regulatory solutions on the national, EU and international level which ensure a more efficient protection of the right to privacy and protection of personal data in electronic communication and in modern digital networks in general

Application

After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:

- apply relevant sources of law to different issues regarding the right toprivacy and the right to protection of personal data in modern digital environment

- use acquired knowledge for the purpose of anticipating new challenges and future trends of regulation of the right to privacy and the right to protection of personal data in electronic communication and in digital environment in general on the domestic, EU and international level

- conduct a research about challenges and efficiency of domestic, EU and international regulatory framework of protection of the right to privacy and protection of personal data in modern digital environment

- manage organisational procedures and projects on the domestic, EU and international level for the purpose of ensuring a harmonisation of actions of organisations with the requirements of relevant legal-regulatory framework in the area of regulation of the right to privacy and the right to protection of personal data in electronic communication and in digital environment

After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:

- analyse the influence of advanced technologies and other modern challenges on the regulation of the right to privacy and the right to protection of personal data in modern digital environment

- categorise sources of law analysed within the course

- resolve issues that require determination and application of relevant rules in the area analysed within the course

- examine adequacy of the valid regulatory framework considering numerous technological, social and economic challenges in the area it regulates

Synthesis

After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:

- prepare legal opinions related to various issues that influence the regulation of the right to privacy and the right to protection of personal data in electronic communication and in modern digital environment in general

- plan procedures in order to ensure harmonisation between actions of organisations and requirements of the relevant legal-regulatory framework within the area of regulation of the right to privacy and the right to protection of personal data in electronic communication and in modern digital environment in general

- propose regulatory solutions in order to achieve a more efficient regulation of the right to privacy and the right to protection of personal data in electronic communication and in modern digital environment in general

Evaluation

After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:

- compare domestic, EU and international regulatory solutions of protecting the right to privacy and the right to protection of personal data in electronic communication and in modern digital environment in general

- compare advantages and disadvantages of solutions in current domestic, EU and international regulatory framework in order to efficiently resolve numerous issues analysed within the course

- recommend the best practice for the purpose of ensuring harmonisation of the actions of organisations on the domestic, EU and international level with the requirements of relevant legal-regulatory framework in the area of regulation of the right to privacy and the right to protection of personal data in electronic communication and in digital environment

- assess the adequacy of current legal-regulatory framework of protection of the right to privacy and the right to protection of personal data in electronic communication and in modern digital environment in general considering modern challenges on the domestic, EU and international level

- recommend the necessary changes of current legal-regulatory framework in the area of regulation of the right to privacy and the right to protection of personal data in electronic communication and in modern digital environment considering numerous technological, social and economic challenges in the area it regulates on the domestic, EU and international level.

3. Writing and presenting a seminar paper based on research

Writing and presenting a seminar paper is graded on the scale from 1 to 5 and represents 50% of the final course grade.
