Description
Many EU law courses devote a lot of attention to examination of the case law through which the EU legal order has mainly developed. Obviously, the most important institution that steered that development is the Court of Justice of the EU. But equally important are its main interlocutors - national courts - who were in many cases 'complicit' in the establishment of some of the fundamental doctrines and principles of EU law. So, in this course we will discuss the current organisation and functioning of the EU judicial system, in particular the powers and decision-making process of the Court of Justice, but also its relationship with national courts and their role in judicial development of EU law. This, among other things, will enable better understanding of other courses that focus on specific areas of EU law.
