Rutvica Rusan Novokmet graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb in December 2006. She worked as a law trainee in the period from February until October 2007. In July 2009 she passed the bar exam at the Ministry of Justice. She was employed as a research assistant at the Chair of Public International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb in 2007. In 2017 she completed the postgraduate doctoral study in Public International Law and Private International Law by defending the doctoral dissertation ˝The Responsibility of Non-State Actors for Internationally Wrongful Acts˝. In 2021 she was elected as an Assistant Profesor at the Chair of Public International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb. She teaches the following subjects at the Faculty of Law: International Law (general course), Development of International Law, International Protection of Human Rights and Consular Law. She also teaches International Law at the Croatian Military Academy˝Dr. Franjo Tuđman˝.
She was a mentor for more than twenty graduate theses at the Chair of Public International Law, a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Zagreb Law Review and a member of the Scientific committee of the Editorial board of the student journal Lawyer. She regularly makes reviews of scientific papers on international law topics.
Assistant Professor Rusan Novokmet regularly participates in domestic and international scientific conferences. She is the author of scientific papers on various subjects of international law published in domestic and international journals. In the focus of her field of reseach are the following topics: the international responsibility of States and international organizations, international protection of human rights, international humanitarian law, the United Nations system, jurisprudence of the International Court of Justice, terrorism, peaceful dispute resolution, international criminal law.
She is a member and treasurer of the Croatian branch of the International Law Association (Croatian Society for International Law), a member of several committees of the Faculty of Law and a member of the Committee for Quality Management of University Study Programs for the Needs of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia.
