The course Human Rights offers students of social work an introduction to the basics of the system of protection of human rights, guaranteed rights to protection from (non) action of states that belong to each person on the basis of his existence as a human being. It is a common view that the promotion and protection of human rights is a precondition for the recognition of the dignity and development of every person, as they affirm the freedom and dignity of the individual as a human being. Furthermore, the recognition and guarantee of human rights are prerequisites for the establishment and development of a democratic society.

The human rights topics discussed within the Human Rights course should train you for practical scientists and skills important for your future professional service, but also for making decisions from a nailed life from the position of citizens. Namely, citizens who care for the promotion and protection of human rights are the bearers of democratic change and the promoters of democratic values.

The goal of human rights education is to create a culture of respect for diversity based on the universal values of human rights as well as on developing a system for their effective protection.

The competencies you should acquire successfully in the governing body of the Human Rights course are the following: understanding the concept of human rights, understanding the development of human rights, researching various domestic and international legal sources (eg the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia, Council of Europe, European Union and United Nations instruments). in the field of human rights), knowledge of the roles of institutions dealing with the promotion and protection of human rights, understanding and application of instruments and mechanisms of human rights protection, understanding the content of individual human rights, and recognizing cases of discrimination and knowledge of how to respond to them.
