Through this course, students will be introduced to the notion of international criminal law, its historical development and modern tendencies. Special emphasis will be given to the law and practice of international ad hoc tribunals and the International Criminal Court. Bearing in mind the dynamic development of this branch of law, students will be provided with the additional list of readings (excerpts from relevant judgments and decisions of international criminal courts and recent scientific papers). Students are expected to come to class regulary and prepare for each class (read the assignment) in order to be able to actively participate in class discussions. As a result, students will acquire an in-depth understanding of the theory and practice of international criminal law. |
